What a spectacular night this will be! We are delighted to be hosting Lamine Sonko at New Hall on Friday 6 September. Lamine will be joined by Anita Quayle on cello and Kumar Shome on guitars for the third instalment of our four-part concert series which is support by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria.

Lamine is celebrated for his unique synthesis of contemporary and traditional music, steeped in the varied cultural musical legacies that have informed his approach as a composer and musician. In his artistic practice, he pushes boundaries to experiment with fusing the styles of traditional West African, contemporary classical and jazz, drawing on ancient African musical concepts that talk to people about the present human condition and the social function of the arts to foster connection and new community consciousness.
